Now your kiddos can practice their claw machine skills right in their very own home!  It’s just like the one in the arcade, but they have a much better chance at winning.  It lights up, plays music, and has two different modes of timed-play.  It also comes with 6 little surprise packs that you can refill once they win them all. Super fun and something that you may want to play yourself!
Many, many toys for toddlers are ablaze with buttons, levers, lights, music, etc. Often these toys are marketed as “developmental” because the toy has so many different functions. Unfortunately, this often has the opposite effect for the child. The more a toy does, the less your child has to do. If your child can sit and watch the toy “perform,” then it is likely more entertaining than educational. In addition, these toys can be confusing to a child who is learning cause-and-effect. If a toy randomly starts playing music, or it is unclear which button made the lights start flashing, then your child is not learning which of his actions (the cause) produced the lights and music (the effect). In short, the most useful toys are those that require the most action on the part of a young child. The more children have to use their minds and bodies to make something work, the more they learn.

This simple concept soother is a plush stuffed toy attached to a Soothie pacifier. The easy-to-grab animals come in different options like elephant or giraffe, and even if your baby doesn’t like a pacifier, some like to chew on the soft rubber section. Since pacifiers are small, they notoriously get lost when flung out of a crib. But the animal part of this soother makes it easy to find and keep up with for routine nap and bedtimes.
The milestones of the fine motor skills include being able to perform small movements using the muscles of the fingers and hands. During this phase, the toddler should achieve milestones in picking up and grasping, using simple tools such as a spoon, put together blocks and coordination of the hands and eyes. By age three, they should have developed milestones in learning how to open doors, operate moving parts on a toy and perform basic drawing skills with a pencil or crayon.

A vigilant parent therefore must take the time to research a toy carefully before its purchase, but should also check in with manufacturer and government agency reports periodically to make sure the toy is still considered safe after it has been in real world situations for an extended period of time. Infancy does not last long; it's well worth the time and effort to ensure that a young child is safe during this precious but occasionally fraught period of life.

3. Promote interaction and language : Some toys are more supportive of playing with  and talking to your baby than others. A book that reads itself to your toddler as she turns pages or pushes buttons leaves little room for a parent to interact. A spider toy that sings the whole "Itsy Bitsy Spider" song doesn't promote imitation of hand motions as mommy or daddy sings it to baby. Look for toys that do less for the child and that allow the space for you as a parent to ask questions, tell a story, sing a song, make an animal noise,  and make observations.
Inspired by the T-Rex in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Super Colossol Tyrannosaurus Rex stands a whopping 3-feet tall for larger than life fun! Another uniquely versatile newborn infant toy is the Take Along Mobile with Animal Friends. The toy can be attached to any baby furniture such as a crib, car seat, stroller, playpen, or even bassinet. It can be conveniently clipped on to your bag so you can take it anywhere you and your baby will be going. The mobile plays 30 minutes of soft and melodic music while the rabbit, bird, and frog characters circle overhead.
This is a great gift for when parents are introducing their baby to solid foods. Because regular bibs are primarily made of fabric, that means a whole lot of laundry needs done while baby’s learning to eat. Being able to just wipe these bibs clean is a tremendous time-saver, and the cupped bottom will allow food sliding down and stray crumbs to be caught.
And they called it puppy love: The KD Kids Rescue Runts are adoptable plush pets that kids can "rescue," groom and love. Adorable and adoptable, make this the best toddler Christmas gift ever by bringing home all four rescue puppies! ($20; amazon.com)
Examples: Balls of different shapes and sizes, tricycles or three-wheeled scooters (with appropriate protective gear), plastic bowling sets, child-size basketball hoop, pull-toys (e.g., toys that your child can pull on a string), wagon to fill and pull, gardening tools to dig and rake with, moving boxes (open at both ends) to make tunnels to crawl through
Enchantimals celebrates the special bond between kids and animals. These 6-inch lovable dolls share a special connection with their animal friends. In order to know how to help ease our children’s pain, we first must understand the process in which their body is changing and developing. Although few remember, teething is a process we all have experienced. It can be painful and cause other disruptive symptoms such as loss of appetite and fever. This first set of teeth, also known as milk teeth, play an essential role in the development of our children’s mouths, smiles, and speech. These teeth start popping through on average around 6 months. They can, however, appear as early as 3 months or as late as 1 year of age. These teeth have two major roles: the first is to mark and prep the eruption areas for permanent teeth to make way. The second is to maintain the arch length, to ensure healthy speech development.
There are two kinds of developmental issues: Developmental Delay and Developmental Disability. While the terms are used interchangeably, there is a difference between the two but that difference can be hard to decipher within a child. Developmental delay can be caused from short term issues such as an ear infection causing sensory delay or a long term hospitalization causing a delay in motor skills. If the delay is spotted and intervened early, a toddler can quickly catch up in their developments.
Baby can shake, roll, squeeze, and chew this delightful Bendy Ball. With plastic so flexible, even a baby can bend it and explore the wonders that the Einstein Bendy Ball contains. The caterpillar in the middle of the ball has multiple colors to teach baby sights and the sounds of the rattle just add to the charm of this toy. Small enough for tiny hands to manipulate and squeeze, the Bendy Ball will certainly be a first favorite for your child.

This is a gift that will last your baby through teen years and possibly beyond. You can set it up to be on an automatic sensor to come on with the darkness and go off with the light. The sound isn’t loud, but it will be a nice soft addition to the nursery to drown out the noise from outside the room. Plus, the lights can spin (or not) to give baby something to watch as he dozes off.
These Baltic amber beads are a lot like essential oils: they’re not a scientific 100% fix of anything. But there are just too many people who swear by them to brush them off as a fluke, and there is some science to back it. The Succinic Acid contained in the Baltic amber can have a pain relieving effect, and when it comes to a screaming baby, parents will take pretty much any possibility of relief. Plus, it looks adorable on a baby, too. Just remember not to let him or her sleep in it because it can be a choking hazard.
Nothing comes more naturally for a child than to chew on his or her blankie or pillow!  It was the original chew toy before there even was a chew toy!  It’s convenient because there’s no worry of slippage or of it falling.  Baby can crawl around with it, sit with it, lay with it -- all within reach of hands and mouth!  The five points of the star design give a variety of teething texture experiences!  By far, the most playful option for a teething baby.
All your kids unicorn dreams are coming to life this season!  Yep, this is an actual electric unicorn that your kiddo can sit on and ride around the house (or outside).  This magical wonder goes backwards and forwards by using the reigns and can go up to 3 mph. Plus the unicorn horn lights up.  Awesome!  This is a hot item so feel free to check availability on Amazon here.  And you can learn more about My Lovely Unicorn here.
“A cape is a blank slate,” says Dr. Cornett, “a kid can use it to be royalty or a superhero or just as a blanket.” Again, you want to stay away from existent superhero logos to allow the maximum freedom for your kid. We dig this Lynda Sutton DIY Drawing Superhero Cape, which comes with a matching mask and, most importantly, can be washed after a hard day of superheroing.

In general, parents find that the Soothing Sleep Owl accomplishes its mission. Most babies seem to like the soft lights and lullabies. One practical feature is the ability to remove the electrical component from the plush toy, allowing it to be easily washed. Buy the Bubzi Co Soothing Sleep Owl and baby will be on the way to sweeter sleep in no time!
Toy shopping can be similar. The makers of baby products can slap an "educational" or "developmental" label on their toys without oversight and certainly without any research or evidence to support their claims. And you may be surprised to find that many of the most popular toys on the market aren't the most beneficial for development. Luckily, most baby toys aren't harmful, per se, but there are certainly some that are more developmentally helpful for our kiddos than others.
Choo-choo! All aboard the LEGO DUPLO Steam Train. Designed for ages 2 through 5, the Steam Train set now allows younger kids to build a moving train out of DUPLO blocks. What’s cool? It’s interactive and even teaches some basic programming concepts with special blocks that serve as pieces of code. An interactive app allows you to take control of the train – sending it in motion either forward or backward. Kids are encouraged to explore with cause-and-effect play.

Why we love it: Freddie's bright colours and different sounds and textures mean he's a bit of a baby magnet: so much to see, feel, hear and chew! Our tester's mum was really taken with the toy's quality and how much it stimulated and held her baby Andy's attention. A couple of months later, she's still impressed with it.  'It's a lovely toy,' she says, 'and it washes great – it's been washed a billion times!'
Monopoly Fortnite Edition is designed for teens. In this version of the game you battle your opponents and avoid the storm. Just like the videogame, it’s all about survival — not what you own. The game features battles and loot chests and is inspired by the videogame. It’s a fun new spin on the classic game of Monopoly. Will you be the last player standing?!

This is one of the newest (and best-selling) games so far in 2018.  In fact, it’s one of Kickstarter’s 50 most backed projects of all time.  Pretty impressive.  This super fun/crazy unicorn-based game is for the older kids.  They say 14+, but plenty of parents who’ve reviewed and played feel like 10-12+ was perfectly fine.  Either way, the goal is to build your own unicorn army (mainly by betraying your friends).  Be the first to to build the army of 7 unicorns and win this strategic card game!
Once your baby starts learning to sit up and crawl, a whole host of new toys can enter the scene. The VTech Sit-to-Stand Learning Walker—an Amazon’s Choice product—is recommended for kids from nine months to three years of age, and comes with all the bells and whistles to keep him occupied for hours at a time while also developing those important sit and stand skills.
The Baby Einstein Take Along Tunes Musical Toy is great because it provides baby with seven classical music tunes (including Mozart, Vivaldi, Chopin, and Rossini) at the touch of a button, but there’s more to love about this toy than just the tunes. Baby’s senses will be delighted as she watches the lights dance with each note and as she learns to grip the toy with its easy-to-hold (and adorable) giraffe sidebar.
