Boys are now really familiar with all the colorful pictures and words from one side, I think we will switch to the Farm side soon. This mat was also very helpful for crawling and learning how to walk – it’s definitely better than a hard floor, so all the falls didn’t hurt so much 🙂 I love this mat – it engages baby in many ways, it helps in baby’s development and makes learning so much fun.

This playmat has 17 different activities and includes such items as a mirror, crinkle and squeaker toys, a mirror, and overhead hanging toys for baby to look at. The mat is machine-washable — a definite bonus! Parents report that this playmat was entertaining and met the needs of their baby through various ages. For young babies just beginning to spend time on the floor, the set includes a tummy support pillow.
They’re totally obsessed with PJ Masks on Disney Jr so you know they’re going to love one of the best-selling in the PJ Masks family right now!  This really fun play set comes with 1 Catboy play figure (and Cat-Car mobile), 3 levels of play, a zip line, a surprise ceiling trap, working elevators, a pop-out exit hatch, and so much more.  They’ll be ready to fight crime and look cute doing it all at the same time!
Even the squeaky-clean Mattel is getting into the poop action with Flushin’ Frenzy. The new game has a toilet bowl, plunger, and poop character. You can probably guess what you have to do, right? Kids have to use plunging action without having the poo fly through the air. Players take turns to determine how many plunges they get. Eww … gross! It’s just like in the real world!
We rarely think of our daily habits, such as brushing our hair or teeth, as a practical method for stimulating our brains and improving essential skills. This toothbrush and toy combo is shaped like a banana which, due to its sweetness seems to be a fruit most children will happily eat. However, consider the shape and texture of this toy will help children improve finger dexterity and fine motor skills. As our littles learn to grip or tighten their grips, their brains are stimulated in an irreplaceable manner.
5. Relevance to real life :  Babies are learning about the world around them. They're trying to associate words with the pictures in books and the toys in their world. The objects that they play with and interact with on a daily basis can contribute to that understanding of the world. I advocate for at least some of a baby's toys to be related to or resemble real life objects. Look for baby books with real photos or realistic drawings of animals and toy animals that actually look like animals (as opposed to the singing octopus pirate previously mentioned). Let your baby play with cups and wooden spoons, wooden blocks, mirrors, scarves, etc.
Seriously, how cute is this little vet play set for the kiddos?!  It’s a great way to show them (and let them learn) how to take care of pets.  It comes with 24 pieces, including a plush doggy and kitten and must-have vet accessories like a thermometer, tweezers, bandages, stethoscope, syringe, and so much more.  Their imaginations will run wild and your heart will melt!
Play gives children the chance to practice new skills over and over again. Toys that give kids a chance to figure something out on their own—or with a little coaching—build their logical thinking skills and help them become persistent problem-solvers. They also help children develop spatial relations skills (understanding how things fit together), hand-eye coordination, and fine motor skills (using the small muscles in the hands and fingers).
Who doesn’t love to cheat in Monopoly? Now Hasbro is making cheating official with the Monopoly Cheaters Edition. The core gameplay remains unchanged. So what’s changed? There are 15 special cards tailored to the sneakiest family members. If you can get away with evil deeds, you’ll be rewarded; however, if you’re caught you’ll end up in handcuffs. Now there’s no banker so you can rob the bank if you’re daring enough.

Oball Rattle: A classic baby toy gets a little rework with the Oball Rattle. This smooth, flexible rattle lets baby shake, rattle, and roll. With 28 finger holes, it’s easy for baby to grasp and shake. There are four built-in rattles with bright and colorful beads within, so your baby can make fun sounds as they shake it. This rattle was featured in Care.com’s “29 Best Toys for Babies Under 1.”
If you prefer multiple teething surfaces for your baby, then you need The First Years’ Star Teething Blanket. The five points on the teething blanket is made of different, yet equally safe and effective, teething surfaces. There’s soft terry cloth and even a crinkly satin. The soft and chewy textures provide babies with a variety of experiences. Additionally, a squeaker is built-in into one of the star’s points. Each point comes in a different color and comes with a teething blanket loop for easier transport.
In order to know how to help ease our children’s pain, we first must understand the process in which their body is changing and developing. Although few remember, teething is a process we all have experienced. It can be painful and cause other disruptive symptoms such as loss of appetite and fever. This first set of teeth, also known as milk teeth, play an essential role in the development of our children’s mouths, smiles, and speech. These teeth start popping through on average around 6 months. They can, however, appear as early as 3 months or as late as 1 year of age. These teeth have two major roles: the first is to mark and prep the eruption areas for permanent teeth to make way. The second is to maintain the arch length, to ensure healthy speech development.

Baby can shake, roll, squeeze, and chew this delightful Bendy Ball. With plastic so flexible, even a baby can bend it and explore the wonders that the Einstein Bendy Ball contains. The caterpillar in the middle of the ball has multiple colors to teach baby sights and the sounds of the rattle just add to the charm of this toy. Small enough for tiny hands to manipulate and squeeze, the Bendy Ball will certainly be a first favorite for your child.
Some experts believe that listening to classical music can do a world of good for your baby, including making your baby smarter and happier. As if that isn’t good enough reason to add a little classical listening to your baby’s playlist, think about what a nice change of pace a little classical music will be from the usual “The Wheels on the Bus” and “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” that you likely have on heavy rotation.
Little kids can get a smart home of their own. Like other Laugh & Learn products, it is designed to grow with your child. As babies crawl though the door, they enter a world of learning. There are so many different activities for baby to explore. Not only can they play pretend kitchen, but babies will learn numbers, shapes, weather, and more. The pretend fridge is actually a cleverly designed shape sorter. It’s just like Mommy and Daddy’s smart home.
A: This choice is entirely up to you as a parent or guardian; teething gels don’t alter or affect a toy’s effectiveness. If you are already open to using teething gels, then you can apply a small amount to the surface of the toy or even directly to the gums. However, if you are concerned about your baby’s exposure to harsh or toxic chemicals, you may want to avoid teething gels altogether as some do contain ingredients, which while proven to relieve pain and swelling, can also cause damaging effects to the liver and kidneys.

Toys that begin to awaken baby’s visual, auditory, and tactile senses will stimulate the development of neural pathways in a baby’s rapidly expanding brain. Our panel of experts, which includes parents, childcare and education professionals and child psychologists have endorsed the following 19 products as some of the best toys for newborn babies. Consider adding them to your own baby registry, purchasing one for your newborn or gifting one to someone expecting or a set of new parents.
Dr. Roberta Golinkoff, professor of psychology at University of Delaware and co-author of the New York Times best seller Becoming Brilliant: What Science Tells Us About Raising Successful Children, has one main tip when it comes to toys and gifts for 2-year-olds: “Don’t constrain them.” Leave every toy open-ended and malleable, so the child herself can learn new things, develop her imagination, and discover her own ways to have fun. At the same time, “they’re starting to put two words together, so they can talk to us, and complain if they don’t like something.” Language, she adds, also helps kids engage in self-regulation. “They understand when you say, ‘Can you count to ten? I’ll be ready then.’ If you tell your children, ‘Wait, just wait,’ then they can say that to themselves, or wait for this or that.” To aid the learning process and assuage the terrible twos, Dr. Golinkoff helped us pick out 15 great gifts for 2-year-olds. As a bonus, these toys can act as a distraction when they’re throwing a tantrum. We’ve also got gift guides for kids of all ages, including 1-year-olds, 3-year-olds, 4-year-olds, 5-year-olds, 6-year-olds, 7-year-olds, 8-year-olds, and 9-year-olds.
These toys seem like they would be great for my kids to play with. I remember that I used to love playing with cardboard blocks. They were fun because I should use them to build a fort or a tower that’s any size that I want it to be. My kids have great imaginations, so this seems like a great toy for them that will let their imaginations run wild with all of the things they would build. Thanks for posting this!

As your baby gets older and has more strength to sit on their own, activity jumpers and saucers can be considered. Consumer Reports says, "A stationary activity center can be used as soon as your baby can sit up unassisted (some start at about four months and most by six months)." The Baby Einstein Neighborhood Friends Activity Jumper is chock-full of activities to keep active and bouncy babies occupied. It has four activity stations that surround baby for 360 degrees. From an electric piano that activates various music, sounds, and languages, to a simple squeaker, this jumper has everything. It also has five height adjustments for growing babies, and a removable toy tray for easy cleaning.
Put away the clunky expensive VR headset, Merge is bringing affordable “virtual reality” to the toy market. Blending digital and physical play, the Merge 6DoF blaster immerses you in the game using just your phone and a blaster accessory. It delivers six degrees of freedom, meaning it tracks your position and orientation so when you move, it moves. It’s something you have to experience. The tracking felt surprisingly accurate, and it was a pure blast to play without any heavy headsets or cumbersome wires. There are many AR toys, but hands-down, it’s the best VR/AR toy we have seen and our Toy of the Show.

For more casual, in-the-moment drawing, try these twisty crayons, whose shape makes it easier for kids to grip them. “Drawing starts teaching things like symbolic activity, even with scribbles,” Dr. Golinkoff says. “You might think that what comes out is mush, but they’re starting to have intent, and they have enough control to put dashes on the paper. Imagine how cool it is to be a 2-year-old and actually put something on a piece of paper and see art emerge on the other end.”

From baby girl Christmas gifts to toddler boy birthday presents, you can’t go wrong with books. But tiny hands get curious and soon they are anxious to “help” turn those fragile pages. Bring on the Indestructible Nursery Rhyme Book Set, which includes Frere Jacques
, Hickory Dickory Dock

, Mary Had a Little Lamb and Humpty Dumpty! This set of five indestructible and wordless books are perfectly prepared to withstand baby’s toughest battles and claim to be baby-proof, chew-proof, drool-proof and rip-proof. This is the most natural choice….I mean, literally, the most natural choice when it comes to a teething toy.  All the concerns and certifications on safety out the window!  It’s a simpler design for a more advanced teether -- the two looped handles of varying textures can be seen as more for gnawing than for massaging sore gums.  And, the handles are more than a handful for baby’s grasp!

Building blocks are popular toddler toys that provide an early lesson in the laws of physics. Your kids can learn about gravity, cause and effect, and the importance of a stable foundation without even realizing it. Blocks are a smart buy for young ones since kids typically maintain interest even as they get older. Start with a set of wooden blocks or big plastic ones that interlock. Both are a good size for toddlers who are still mastering fine motor skills.

This Advent Calendar features 24 surprises to hatch and over 50 surprises to discover. Gloomhaven is a deep, complex, combat-focused game for 1-4 players with games lasting 1-2 hours. You team up with others to complete your goals while uncovering the threats to Gloomhaven. The campaign is comprised of a number of scenarios — each with its own objective. If you ever run out of health, you are defeated. If you like tactical combat and resource management, this game is excellent at both of those. Every turn is a tough decision about what cards to use and how to use them. There’s a huge variety of enemies to face with each requiring a different approach. There are a lot of ways to improve your character, including adding combat modifier cards, equipment, and action cards. The best part of this game is the sheer amount of content it has out of the box. With close to 100 missions, there’s a ton of game to discover. However, the game is not cheap so you’ll want to play a lot to get your money’s worth.
Who knew it could be so hard to chow down? Chow Crown from Hasbro Games is a new game that puts a twist on viral food eating challenges. They’re going to love playing ‘parent’ with this new interactive doll!  They can feed her, change her, love her and more!  She’ll give them over 80 super real expressions and cute little sounds. They can help put her to sleep by rocking her, she’ll laugh when you tickle her, and she’ll even turn to you when you call her!  She’ll even provide you with some of her very own sweet baby babble too when you talk to her.  We personally think this one is the cutest, but you can also get her with blonde sculpted hair or brown sculpted hair too!

Toys that toddlers can push, pull, and ride on boost balance, improve coordination, and encourage active play. Look for toys that your toddler can ride on by themselves that also have a handle for you to push when their little legs get tired. For toddlers who are still learning to walk, something they can push or ride lets them practice both skills.
These dissolve so quickly that they’re the least scary solid food you can give your baby. If you don’t believe us, try them yourself; you’ll be surprised how quickly this goes from looking like a choking hazard to completely melted in your mouth without the use of your teeth at all. The taste isn’t so great (for us, but for a baby that’s just experiencing all tastes for the first time, it’s wonderful), but after you and baby are more comfortable with them, you can give them to baby without worrying if she’s going to choke. And handing them to a screaming baby is just another quick fix we like to have in our parenting arsenal.
This wonderful play mat lights up and play music, plus the hanging toys make noises also when touched. With over 10 toys and activities to keep baby busy, this toy is really hard to beat, especially because it has three different play modes. As baby grows, the positions of play change and so the Newborn-to-Toddler Play Gym allows these changes within the same toy. Fantastic as a sensory-development toy because of the different textures and shapes that baby can handle.
Pokemon fans are going to want to catch Power Action Pikachu, a new plush interactive character. It features over 15 interactive phrases, action sensor technology, and more. Its cheeks light up, its tail lights up, and Pikachu responds with sounds. It’s the first time ever that the tail lights up. If you shake him, he’ll powerup and say “Pikaachuuu”! A simply adorable gift for any Pickachu fan.

Once you open this package and put the rings on the octopus’s tentacles, they may never connect again, but that works out just fine with this toy. Baby may want to spend hours in the tub putting the rings back on, or if she keeps them apart, the rings still make great teething toys. The octopus will engage baby with its bright colors, and with curled tentacles you can expect it will get plenty of teething on as well.
The Wonder Crew Buddies are fantastic new action dolls. They merge action figures with the doll and stuffed animal play. Now kids get the best of both worlds – action, empathy, and nurturing play. Best of all, boys or girls can enjoy them and take them on fascinating adventures. They inspire endless creativity and spark the imagination. And your little kiddo can join in the fun with their own matching superhero mask and costume!
Board books are the best. They are durable, short little stories that kids love. He are some of my faves that are tried and true but without the really popular ones like Guess How Much I Love You, Goodnight Moon and Runaway Bunny because most people have those. If you read this site for any amount of time you know how much I love I Am a Bunny. BEST. BOOK. EVER!
