Babies love books. They love the pictures and the act of turning pages, and it’s very often the best way to occupy baby without actively engaging him yourself. So books are a great distraction while you’re out shopping or while you’re doing the dishes. The best part of these books is how small they are – a few of these guys will fit in the diaper bag easily! And because they come in a pack that makes them less than a dollar each, losing one or two here and there won’t break your heart. Because that adorable little baby is going to throw everything out of the stroller anyway!

Children can learn to explore the world through a number of toys — or just through simple household items like pots and pans. For parents and caregivers, the important thing is to facilitate this experimentation. Says Lytle: “You really want parents to be there playing with their children, following their lead, allowing them to figure out what happens, and asking them questions about it like, ‘Oh my gosh, did you see that? Did you see what happened? Do you think that would happen if we did it again?’ If you think about it, asking those questions get at the scientific method.” No wonder this award-winning toy is beloved by parents and children everywhere. In addition to being a musical instrument, it allows kids to experiment with cause and effect.

Do not blame yourself if your toddler does develop a delay or disability. It doesn’t make the toddler any less intelligent nor does it mean they are destined for a life of mediocrity. However, while you shouldn’t stress out over it, neglecting or refusing to accept that your toddler does have a delay or disability could hinder them in the years to come. Just like it’s best to start the nurturing of developmental milestones early, it’s best to start the nurturing of delay and disability healing early as well.

“Infants are really learning about their place in the world, so the best toys give them some sense of feedback,” said Tovah Klein, director of the Barnard College Center for Toddler Development and author of “How Toddlers Thrive,” citing the classic baby rattle. “'I hit this and it moves’ is the beginning of having a sense of their place in the world.”
Molded for easy-gripping by little hands, this Safety 1st Teether is the perfect fit for butterfingered babies. The design is reminiscent of an elephant, though in a more abstract manner, and comes in a vivid blue to stimulate baby’s senses. The teether is top-rack dishwasher and freezer safe, making it easy to clean, and giving you the option to chill it if your child suffers from sore gums and the cooling sensation brings some relief. The textured shape encourages little ones to touch and hold on. You may not be able to pry it away from them once they get their little hands on it.
These dissolve so quickly that they’re the least scary solid food you can give your baby. If you don’t believe us, try them yourself; you’ll be surprised how quickly this goes from looking like a choking hazard to completely melted in your mouth without the use of your teeth at all. The taste isn’t so great (for us, but for a baby that’s just experiencing all tastes for the first time, it’s wonderful), but after you and baby are more comfortable with them, you can give them to baby without worrying if she’s going to choke. And handing them to a screaming baby is just another quick fix we like to have in our parenting arsenal.
Baby can mouth the cups, bang the cups on the floor or table, bang two cups together, put them on her head, cover her eyes with cups to play peek-a-boo, nest them together, stack them, roll them, pretend to drink from them, hide toys under them, put toys in them, shout into them and more. With the drum, baby bangs the drum and it says a letter. Baby bangs with two hands and it says a letter. Baby pushes his face into the top of the drum in an attempt to bite it - it says a letter. Baby bangs hard - it says a letter. Baby bangs soft - it says a letter. Baby bangs it with a toy hammer - it says a letter. I think you get the point that this toy isn't very responsive to baby's discovery and exploration. Baby can't put anything in it or under it, stack it on top of anything else, roll it, or take it apart. This toy is made for one thing only - banging - and it is effectively a giant button.
This is a good little ride for a baby who can sit up with complete control and is at least very close to crawling. You will need to closely supervise to ensure safety, but the action of rocking back and forth for a baby is their version of a wild roller coaster and the look on his face when he’s riding will have you convinced you’re the best gift-giver in the world.
Gloomhaven is a deep, complex, combat-focused game for 1-4 players with games lasting 1-2 hours. You team up with others to complete your goals while uncovering the threats to Gloomhaven. The campaign is comprised of a number of scenarios — each with its own objective. If you ever run out of health, you are defeated. If you like tactical combat and resource management, this game is excellent at both of those. Every turn is a tough decision about what cards to use and how to use them. There’s a huge variety of enemies to face with each requiring a different approach. There are a lot of ways to improve your character, including adding combat modifier cards, equipment, and action cards. The best part of this game is the sheer amount of content it has out of the box. With close to 100 missions, there’s a ton of game to discover. However, the game is not cheap so you’ll want to play a lot to get your money’s worth.

As such, it is very crucial that, as parents of these lovable children, you should be able to provide them with the correct kinds of toys that are highly appropriate for their age and development.

This toy is for a big baby who is steady on his feet and able to hold a sitting posture. They even recommend the ages of 3 to 8 for its use. But if you are providing direct involvement with baby, this can provide a lot of fun for him and he’ll age into it nicely. It requires no pushing or batteries; its mechanical operation will allow your baby (or you, until baby can figure it out on his own) to operate this car by simply turning the wheel. And it’s durable enough that the manufacturer even suggests the parent hop on to try it out themselves.

We love the empowering and compassionate message where Barbie is helping people!  This ‘Care Clinic’ on wheels is also a hospital playset that comes with over 20 medically themed pieces. Our favorite?  The X-Ray machine that also turns into an eye chart with one simple pull of the lever!  Oh, the lights on the ambulance and siren work too! Barbie is truly saving the day!
Large, soft, fabric blocks are easy for a baby to hold with 2 hands. Babies will practice holding a block 1 hand, or transfer it from one hand to the other. As a child develops their motor skills for sitting and playing, parents will start to see babies try and stack blocks on top of another, until they can build a small tower. Blocks come in all sizes and materials.
Babies between the ages of 6 to 12 months are beginning to explore and interact with people and their surroundings, like crawling and walking across the living room. New teeth pop up through their gums, so finding durable and safe toys for them to mouth, bite and chew are important. Parents also get a little window into their thoughts, watching their baby touch and activate buttons, or place blocks into a container, or begin to turn the pages of a cardboard book.
Grumblies are the anti-virtual interactive pet. They’re geared towards boys and have fart and burp noises. You have to aggravate them enough to get them into meltdown mode. So you shake and toss them around. It’s something brothers would do to their sister’s virtual pets. At a certain point, he totally melts down and farts! There are four different ones, each with its own personality and each represents a different element.
Versatility can be seen in many features, such as beads of different shapes, different grades of thickness and flexibility, and varying textures such as ridges and nubs. Our teether picks encompass one or more of these features to give babies a well-rounded chewing experience that will grow with them, even into the toddler years. Some of our picks are also appropriate for children with oral motor disorders or developmental disorders like autism. However, they should only be used for these purposes upon recommendation from a licensed pediatric specialist.
Some research suggests simply some TLC as a form of relief to trade off extensive use of teethers. Simply holding your child, speaking to them, rocking them when fussy, or the gentle pressure of your finger in their mouth and on their gums can be more than enough in conjunction with the teething toys. By far it will make this first transition much simpler and smoother.

This may be a bit on the religious side, but you know your friends. And if the gift is for your baby, you know you! The wooden figurines will allow baby to identify animals and, if you work with her, animal sounds, too. And there are so many nursery themes of Noah’s Ark that you may find this is the perfect gift to accompany nursery rhyme time. We just couldn’t miss putting this on our list.
Luckily, we have evolved more as a society and tend to avoid giving our children toxins as we did in the past!  As with many things that have come to light, we can now see teething as an integral learning phase for both parents and children. Not only do teething toys help to alleviate gum pain, but the pressure also aids in strengthening the incoming teeth….this is one of the reasons that it is so vital to finding a teething toy which can also reach the back molars as well as the front teeth coming in!
These are fantastic. I got one for both of my sons and it really is something how they actually record your kid’s name into the song and it’s not all shit like with “If you’re ‘insert robotic name here’ and you know it”. It really does sound seamless. I think it’s especially great for kids that have unique names and aren’t going to find the preprinted mugs with their names on it anytime soon.
